Connecting with Students for Experiential Learning
Through CONNECT we provide exposure to the latest in technology
with practical applications and experience beyond the classroom.
As an intern, you will:

We're committed to helping you succeed
in your internship. Our professional staff will provide guidance
and mentoring to help you grow professionally and personally
and prepare you for the "real work" challenges of
tomorrow.
Through CONNECT you will team up with other interns to work
on a variety of assignments and projects. Projects are determined
by our current business needs and are closely tied to the
two groups that make up YRC Worldwide Technologies—Information Solutions and Technology Services.
Information Solutions
- Delivers state-of-the-art technology solutions
- Develops initiative-driven applications
- Provides data analysis and database administration
- Maintains and enhances existing applications
- Leverages the Internet and Intranet
Technology Services
- Ensures reliability, availability, and responsiveness
of systems, networks, computing environments, and applications
- Responsible for enterprise application architecture
- Provides Help Desk and Workstation support
- Responsible for all communications planning, design,
installation and administration: voice, data, and wireless

Michael K. Rapken
Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer
YRC Worldwide
As Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Michael Rapken leads the YRC Worldwide Technologies, Inc., subsidiary of YRC Worldwide and is focused on building on the company's capabilities to support future growth. He is responsible for the strategic technology roadmap as well as for implementing systems and infrastructure solutions which enhance our customers' experiences and drive productivity and synergy initiatives. Rapken was named to the position in 2005.
Before joining the company, Rapken was Vice President of Applications Development for Sprint Corp. While at Sprint, he held numerous positions of increasing responsibility in network systems development, systems architecture and strategic development. Before joining Sprint, Rapken was with General Electric Consulting, AGS Consulting Services and Dresser, Inc.
Rapken holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Illinois State University.
Richard J. Hardt
Vice President, Technology Infrastructure Services
YRC Worldwide Technologies
As Vice President of Technology Infrastructure Services,
Rich Hardt is responsible for the technical support, data
center, service desk, production control, data network,
voice communications, desktop support, information security
and business continuity for YRCW and its subsidiaries.
Hardt has more than 20 years of information technology experience in the transportation industry. He recently
was VP of Information Solutions for Yellow Roadway Technologies where he was responsible for all the application development.
Before that, Hardt was VP of Infrastructure Services for Yellow Technologies where he was responsible for the technical functions supporting Yellow Roadway Corp. and its subsidiaries. These functions included development and production technology environments, systems architecture, information security, operating systems, voice and wireless communications, service desk, client technologies, data networks, and technology procurement. During 2004,
Hardt successfully integrated Yellow and Roadway infrastructure organizations into one shared services infrastructure organization.
He also was Senior Vice President of e-Business for Transportation.com where his central role was to implement e-commerce technologies for a network of global business partners and strategic alliances.
Before that, Hardt worked for seven years in various management roles in the systems development area of Yellow Technologies.
Before joining YRC Worldwide in 1993, Hardt worked for six years at Archer Daniels Midland Company in the Management Information Systems group, supporting the barge and trucking divisions.
Hardt holds a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Computer Science from Illinois State University and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Rockhurst University.
Vicki L. Schluter
Vice President, Information Solutions
YRC Worldwide Technologies
As Vice President of Information Solutions for YRC Worldwide Technologies, Vicki Schluter is responsible for the freight movement, finance and administrative information systems in the corporation. These application systems provide real-time freight movement and tracking, network optimization, and financial reporting capabilities to the transportation companies
of YRC Worldwide.
Schluter has more than 20 years of experience in the Transportation Industry. For the past 10 years, Schluter has held various information technology leadership positions at Yellow Transportation and has been a leader in the technology organization of YRC Worldwide since the Yellow Roadway merger in January of 2004.
Before joining the technology organization, Schluter spent 10 years in the Industrial Engineering and Operations Planning departments of Yellow Transportation where she held various technical and leadership positions centered on process improvements in dock, pickup and delivery, and network planning.
Schluter holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Iowa State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University.
Suda
Suvarna
Vice President, Application Development
YRC Worldwide Technologies
As Vice President of Application Development, Suda Suvarna
is responsible for leading all aspects of technology
solutions for eCommerce/EDI, Sales, Marketing, Customer
Service/Call Center, Revenue Management functional areas
such as Pricing, Rating, Invoicing, Credits, Collections,
Billing, Cash/Payments, Revenue and Claims, etc.
Suvarna is also
responsible for providing leadership and direction to the
global Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse strategy for
all the Operating Companies in the YRC Worldwide family
of companies.
Suvarna was appointed as the Vice President of
Application Development in August 2007.
Suvarna has 25 years of international experience in the IT
industry, spanning 4 countries in multiple industries and
business domains.
Suvarna has also been in a similar capacity
with Enterprise Rent-a-Car, the largest Car Rental Company
in North America. During his 10 years of service at
Enterprise,
Suvarna held various responsibilities, spanning
Application Development and the Shared Services organization
in the Information Technology organization. Before
joining Enterprise,
Suvarna had invested 14 years of his
career in IT consulting, mainly with Accenture
and Ernst & Young.
Suvarna also led a business unit with
P&L responsibilities when he was the general manager for a
Tier 2 international technology consulting firm operating in
several countries. The overall responsibilities included
coordination with sales, delivery, operations, rRelationship
management and finance.
Suvarna holds a post-graduate diploma in Computer Management
and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from University
of Bombay, India.
